Oh well, what a shame....HL is dead. Not really sure about the cause....some pills were found near his body, however suicide doesn't seem to be the COD (Cause of Death for all you CSI fans) (hasn't been ruled out either).
Anyways, I'm not a fan of movie actors or actresses....when i see their works....i pretty much separte them between the ones i like and the ones i don't...(i know..really fuckin' scientific). Given the fact that I'm no movie critic....i keep the parameters simple...
What was sort of a shock wasn't the fact that the guy died in somewhat shady circumstances...he's not the first to go belly up ahead of time....but that he was my age....28....had lady luck willed it....we could have been school mates...u know..same class, etc.
Seems like he broke up with his baby's mom (an actress...btw..best known for Dawson's Creek) last September and was living in an apartment in Manhattan.
I liked the guy 'cause he had some talent...i wish he'd done more serious work....10 things i hate about you and a knight's tale were both quasi-original (we've seen chick flicks and knight flicks in the past...nothing new there) and he played what i'd call the typical heartthrob.....in The Patriot he did a bit better....i won't even touch Casanova...to eventually finish with the best role in his short life....having his salad tossed by another guy at 5,000+ ft.
The really sad part in all this..IMHO.....is that as successful as Mr. Ledger was.....oscar nomination....2 year old daughter....etc....The guy died alone....(we all leave this planet on our own...that's for sure) separated from his gf and not being able to say bye to his daughter....his parents on the other side of the world (he's originally from Perth, Australia).
To die at 28 sucks....@ 28 and alone sucks even more....
I hope he finds peace wherever he is.
